Next Generation Transport System

NGTS®

Plug and Play is an integration solution that connects all on-board systems into a unified network. As hardware-agnostic software integrators, we use standard network protocols to  link all the different devices, which enables consistent and efficient communication and centralized control of the bus ecosystem.

Auxillary Devices

Validator

Passengers can tap with their mobile phone, QR codes, Debit and Credit cards and Leap Cards to purchase their tickets at the entrance of the bus. Our solution integrates with any validator that will be used on the vehicle to enable fast transactions through Account Based Ticketing and less interaction with drivers which help avoid delays.

Handheld Ticket Terminal

Handheld terminals are used to scan QR codes, contactless transactions and national cards, manage booking and connect to real-time services. Metric Mobility Solutions have different types of handheld solutions that are used for ticketing purposes.

Router

The central hub that connects all onboard devices. It integrates the ticketing devices, display systems along with the ancillary devices like the passenger counter and CCTV cameras. The integration is done through ITxPT protocol.

CCTV Camera

Bus cameras are connected through ITxPT to allow the driver to monitor the bus in real-time as well to record any feed for future surveillance.

Passenger Display Board

This display is placed inside the bus and provides passengers with a real-time feed of the current location of the bus. It can also provide information on the sequence of the next stops along with the time it will take for each stop.

Street Display Panel

Usually located outside the bus stop, this panel is loaded with GTFS and SIRI data to provide an accurate real-time time table that is relevant to each stop. It commonly displays the estimated arrival time of the next few buses arriving at the stop.

LED Destination Board

There are three different LED displays - front of the bus, at the side above the entrance to the bus, and at the rear end of the bus. This is used to display the relevant bus number and destination and to display messages (ex. Bus is full).

Driver Terminal

The driver terminal tablet offers an intuitive interface for route management, ticketing, and real-time updates. It connects securely to the back-office system and supports accessories like printers and card readers.

Passenger Counter

The passenger counter provides real-time data on passengers boarding and alighting, including wheelchair users and children. Sensors at the doors keep track of the passenger number giving drivers an accurate feedback on the capacity of their journey.
